I've been following these guidelines for about 10 years and with the exception of mostly eliminating sugar have been successful because these changes are pretty easy to implement on a daily basis. And I do eat less sugar than ever. I was encouraged to do this when my late father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Though there is no known cure for the disease, I think that being in optimal health helps. Anyway, one of the things I do to incorporate 9 fruits and vegies a day in my diet is to use my Vita-Mix. Here's a link to my page talking about that: http://cristinaacosta.com/.docs/pg/10227
Thanks for the great blog.

I am surprised about sugar as well. I can’t have a cup of tea without honey, but I can take a cup of coffee without sugar. I also tend to have something with my cup of tea like biscuit or a slice of cake, which will be difficult to give up. I am all in favour of fruit and veg, but nine a day seems to be a lot. And, I love your advice about sleep, but it is harder to follow than it seems. Thank you. Kate from buy to let mortgage
