I just came across this article and just wanted to point out that you shouldn't say for pregnant people to not have any raw fruits or vegetables. Very, very bad advice. It's very important for pregnant people to be eating lots of fresh, raw, fruits and vegetables to get all the nutrients. We wouldn't be doing ourselves or our baby any favors by cooking all the nutrients away.

Cherie,

Thanks for that additional information on effective dose.

As for vinegar, I use straight distilled white vinegar but you could also dilute it 1:1 with water. Just keep in mind that even full strength, vinegar can not kill e.coli but it can reduce waxes, dirt, pesticide residues and some germs.

Regarding your e coli on produce article, excellent coverage (as usual), but I think there is a slight error. You report that the effective dose for e coli is one bacteria, when in fact it is a larger amount due to your ability to defend yourself. Thus it varies from person to person. However, the MSDS for e coli indicates that the effective dose is more in the order of 10.

You also indicated that vinegar is a good cleaner for vegetables, but didn't provide the concentration to use ( say per liter ).

Thank you for all the great shows... I love them!
